Water, a poem

Michigan is full of water.
The dams are full.
The rain will fall.
And I will tremble

as the wind tears through the pines
just as I tear up your words in my chest

breaking like the treetops
that come crashing to the ground

I feel the thunder
in my heart.

I sit.
vulnerable,
to the wind of your affection.
The force of which,
blows me to the ground.
A swan near the dam, in Rockford, MI.
